M&S Bank is now offering Visa Check cards. Please come by any branch or call and request an application be mailed to you. The use of signature-based Visa Check Cards presents significant opportunities of convenience to banking customers both nationwide and abroad - when combined with their frequent pin-based use at ATMs. Our Visa Check Cards will be acceptable at all ATMs bearing the Star, Plus and Presto logos.
As of June 2000 cardholders had access to 1,750,564 POS terminals nationwide. Of that number of terminals 497,575 were in supermarkets, 1,107,665 were at gas stations and another 112,802 were spread among fast food outlets, convenience stores and "other" outlets. Use of signature-based check cards as opposed to check writing for routine purchases has soared over the last five years. Vendor acceptance of debit cards as an alternative to the hassle of check verification and the resulting losses is the single greatest benefit to cardholders.
