| M&S Bank has developed the following list of frequently asked questions to provide our customers answers to some of the most commonly asked questions and to provide them with a resource to help them solve the commonly encountered problems. If you have any questions that are not addressed here, or you have additional comments or concerns please contact your branch Personal Banker or e-mail the Online Teller at teller@msbank.com.
Q: How frequently is my M&S Banking account information updated on the Internet?
A: M&S Bank updates all customer information each business day (Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays). Whether you access the Online Banking site or visit one of our branches by you, your account information is updated every Monday through Friday evening to reflect all account activity.
Q: Can I look at all of my transactions at any time?
A: Yes, with Online Banking, you have access to your account information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Q: How long will it take to setup my accounts so that I can view my bank information online?
A: This should only take 24 -48 hours (excluding weekends and Federal Holidays). If you can't access your information after this time frame please contact your Personal Banker, Branch Manager or the Online Teller.
Q: I am very concerned about banking online. Can other people see my account information?
A: Your account information is just as secure as it is in your physical brick and mortar bank. We've taken significant precautions to ensure our system meets the latest security standards, including using the latest security encryption methods and software.
Q: Is it possible for others on the Internet to gain access to money in my accounts?
A: That would require the ability to "crack" the encryption code. While breaking the code is not impossible, it would typically take a super computer months of continuous effort to unscramble the nearly 200 trillion combinations of characters in search of the "right combination" created by the 128-bit state-of-the-art encryption code that is supported by our Online Banking System and is used by the latest Internet browser software available from Netscape and Microsoft. Of course, you should always safeguard your personal identification number (PIN) and other information about your accounts.
Q: Why don't I have any account information when I first log on to the Internet Banking site?
A: On a few occasions it has been noted that new users to the system could log in but not have access to any of their account information. The setup procedure for new users on the M&S Bank Online Banking system is a two-part procedure. First, the customer's general information is set up, then his/her account information is added. It is during the transition of setting up the user and his/her accounts that the new user attempts to sign on and is given access to the online web site. Please try back within 24 hours, your account information will be available. If it is not please contact your Personal Banker, Branch Manager or the Online Teller.
Q: Can I make a Loan Payment online?
A: Yes! You can if you have asked to have that account added to your list of accounts for Online Banking. Once the account has been added the procedure is to log into Online Banking. From the master menu in Online Banking click on "Transfer Funds" then select "Loan Payment" and fill in the appropriate information requested on the screen.
Q: How do I transfer my information into my Quicken or MS Money program?
A: For a detailed description on this procedure please refer to our information sheet called "How to Import Data into Quicken and MS Money" located in our General Information section.
Q: Why does the M&S Bank web site look funny on my computer?
A: For a detailed description on how to adjust your monitor on your computer for better resolution please refer to our information sheet called "How to better view the Internet" located in our General Information section. If that does not help your problem the next solution would be to update your Internet Browser. Internet browsers are free to you and are available from both Netscape and Microsoft. You can refer to the information sheet "Upgrade your Browser" located in our General Information section to complete this procedure.
Q: Can other people access my account information?
A: No. If you have any questions as to Internet security you should refer to our information sheet called "Security and Internet Banking" located in our General Information section.
Q: Why do I have to log into both the Online Banking and Bill Pay web sites? These passwords get confusing.
A: We are sorry for the perceived inconvenience that this may cause you but these passwords are there for security reasons. Passwords are there to keep others from accessing your banking information. You should never give these passwords to anyone.
Q: How does Internet Banking really work?
A: For a detailed description on how Internet Banking works please refer to our information sheet called "How does Internet Banking Work?" located in our General Information section.
